#WednesdayWebcomic of the Week BOUNCE! by Chuck Collins

This week I wanna spotlight BOUNCE, a fictionalized semi-biographically inspired webcomic by talented and hardworking cartoonist Chuck Collins. Chuck uses his hefty drawing arm to wrangle the tipsy  and entitled at a New York bar to pay the bills, then turns it into comedy gold...
Here's the sales pitch:
Welcome the the world of The Bouncer and his childhood friend Yemaya. Two sci-fi and movie geek bouncers that deal with New York's craziest bar patrons.

I have followed Chuck Collins' work for years. I first became aware of him as the writer-artist of Dread Society X, a post-apocalyptic action fantasy comic rich in black nationalism and martial arts.  After that Collins drew the afropunk slice-of-life comic Triboro Tales.  Both of these are worthy projects, but his current webcomic BOUNCE is a perfect vehicle for him, in the same way Scott Pilgrim was for O'Malley, or Buffalo Speedway was for Mercado.  BOUNCE is Chuck at his most authentic.  Collins floods BOUNCE with wit and cultural/political commentary, without it feeling stiff, forced or preachy.  He also engineers excuses to draw any and everything he loves to draw.
Political satire? Check!
BOUNCE can shift from a sitcom vibe into a martial arts fantasy or poignant slice-of-life dramedy with little or no warning.  The ability to import as much of the action elements as he wants while retaining the right to be hilarious or deep or angry at any time helps make BOUNCE a perfect vehicle for Collins.

He can bring everything he has ever done, experienced, or felt strongly about into this strip, and it feels right at home.  He can switch formats.  And the character designs?  Perfection in progress...
So anyways, you can click here to partake for free, or  click here to actually help support a dope comic stay sustainable.
